Fighting is your friend
Krav Maga (meaning “contact combat” in Hebrew) is a self-defense fighting system created for the Israeli military by Imi Lichtenfeld. It has been tested in war zones and on the streets by military and law enforcement agencies, so you know it’s tried, tested, and true.
Reasons to take Krav Maga over (or in conjunction with) other martial arts:
- Other martial art systems, like Karate, require years of training and learning exact forms, positions, rules, etc. In Krav Maga, you learn defenses based on the natural, instinctive movements you’d already make if someone were to attack you. This means you would be more likely to successfully defend yourself.
- It is one of the most intense workouts you’ll ever have. Ever. But you feel like a million bucks afterwards. (No really, I swear!)
- It’s empowering knowing you can defend yourself against attackers. You gain self-confidence and self-awareness.
- Krav Maga is a hands-on “martial art.” You learn what it feels like to actually hit something (punching bags, of course!).
- Anyone can learn Krav Maga, including men, women, and children. You can even find Krav Maga summer camps for kids!
- All the cool kids are doing it! (See Jennifer Lopez in Enough, Brenden Fraser in The Mummy, and Christian Bale in Batman Begins)
